A €10m transboundary project SMURD 2 will be implemented in Moldova in 2019-2022. The grant contract for the financing by the European Commission of the project, which is implemented by the General Inspectorate for Emergencies of Moldova in partnership with the similar institution of Romania, was signed in Bucharest, IPN reports.
In a press release, the General Inspectorate for Emergencies said the project envisions the reconstruction and operationalization of two SMURD (Mobile Emergency Service for Resuscitation and Extrication) points in the districts of Ungheni and Cantemir and the building of four takeoff-landing platforms for SMURD helicopters near four hospitals in Chisinau, Balti and Cahul.
There will be bought 14 motor vehicles outfitted with modern medical equipment for providing qualified first aid and taking patients to the hospital and for resuscitation and extrication works. It is also planned to improve the legal framework on transboundary operations.
The SMURD 2 project is financed by the European Union through the European Neighborhood Instrument.
